Maryland Institute College of Art Master of Fine Arts in Community Art
First zine workshop of the fall semester down! Holding space for all the emotions, color and culture today at my alma mater Maryland Institute College of Art Facilitating zine workshops centering black feminist disability framework and disability justice advocacy is truly my happy place. So dope to be in community with Community Art Collaborative and Community Arts MFA CAC members and MFACA students again today! Some identified as disabled and Neurodivergent and that made the vibe of this work so beautiful! Thank you for having me back!!! More images in my story highlights!
CAC members and MFACA students had an a opportunity to learn about Jen’s activism and creative practice, and made some great zines of their own reflecting on disability justice framework and history
Image descriptions: various photos showing artists and designers in a classroom creating colorful and vibrant mini zines that center disability justice principles and black disabled ancestors like Nina Simone, Fannie Lou Hamer, Audre Lorde.
